When I am busy at work, the anxiety is often overwhelming.
I used to take a daily medication, but it stopped working and I didn’t want to go through the process of finding something new. Most of the time during the day, I don’t have to speak with very many people at work. It is one of the reasons why I chose a career in the heating and AC repair industry. I have very little interaction with the customers unless they are signing an invoice. A couple of days ago, I was working on a heat pump and AC installation job. I was working alone and enjoying my time by listening to the radio on a small machine that I bring to work. The residential service customer came to the area where I was working and wanted to discuss the repair. I spoke with the customer for a few minutes and I tried to ignore most of his questions. I wasn’t trying to be rude or mean, but I needed to finish my work and I’m not great at socializing. I finished the heat pump and AC installation job after spending all day at the customer’s house. I went back to the workshop when I was done and my boss asked me to step into the office and speak with him. He told me that the customer called his office to complain about my customer service skills. He said I was rude and didn’t want to answer any of his questions. Thank goodness my boss knows that I have terrible anxiety. He didn’t have any complaints about my work and told me to have a good night.
